Small Wind Energy

This essay points out an important fact - that individuals (household or small businesses) can use wind power. It doesn't have to be just fields of huge turbines. The American Wind Energy Association has a useful page on their website about this smaller version of wind energy - http://www.awea.org/faq/rsdntqa.html. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I agree. A friend of mine installed a small wind turbine on his farm in 1980. It has virtually eliminated his home heating bills. In addition, during the windy seasons, the power company automatically buys power from him. As a result, he can not only save on heating bills, he also gets cash from the power company. Finally, with an electric car he can be truly energy independent.

Unfortunately, there are not that many people who have the right location plus enough money to install their own wind mill. Nevertheless, the original article is correct that our country does have the potential for large scale wind farms.
