Door County Land TrustThis is a private, non-profit organization that is dedicated to protecting the lands that add to the scenic beauty, open space, and ecological integrity of Door County. The organization protects lands by working with private landowners who donate some or all of their development rights through a conservation easement agreement, by accepting donations of land, and by selectively purchasing properties. The Door County Land Trust gets 100% of its funding via membership fees and donations. There are many different one-year membership levels available, starting at $35 and going over $5000. Formerly known as the Lauderdale Lakes Conservancy, this land trust has expanded to preserve the Kettle Moraine Lakes area. This nonprofit organization owns Island Woods, a 40-acre peninsula located between Green and Middle Lakes. The land trust's ongoing mission is to bring Island Woods to its natural, pre-settlement state. Northeastern Wisconsin Land TrustThe Northeastern Wisconsin Land Trust was founded in 1996 in order to protect the quality of life in the land that has created Wisconsin's heritage. The Northeasten Wisconsin Land Trust works with landowners to create voluntary conservation areas and currently has protected over 1700 acres of land in 13 conservatories!
