This year's 3rd annual Medicine Collection Day (A prescription for clean water & safe kids) on April 19th will collect and safely dispose of medicines in Milwaukee, Racine, Ozaukee, and Washington counties. This will be our first truly regional Medicine Collection Day to help protect Lake Michigan, prevent childhood poisonings, and reduce substance abuse.

Great Lakes Renewable Energy, Inc., FID 858019470, submitted to the Department of Natural Resources a permit application, including plans and specifications for the construction and operation of a wood pellet manufacturing facility to be located at 16592W U.S. Highway 63 South, Hayward, Sawyer County, Wisconsin. (Air Pollution Construction and Operation Permit Nos. 07-MDW-207 and 858019470-F01). DNR staff made a preliminary determination that the application meets state and federal air pollution control requirements and that the permit should be approved. Growth of renewable energy businesses will create new “green collar” jobs in Wisconsin. Those jobs include: manufacturers, installers, consultants, engineers, and associated professions. Renewable energy in Wisconsin has the potential to produce 35,000 jobs in the next 10 years.

This conference features keynote speakers Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and James Hoecker, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The event is open to the public. Individual tickets cost $50 if purchased by Jan. 31; tickets after that cost $75 each. Tables are available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of $600. Student discounts also will be available. The ticket price includes two meals.
